The length of Invisalign treatment varies based on your particular needs. Most of our patients see results in 12–18 months. For mild crowding, treatment may take as little as 3–6 months. In your complimentary consultation, we can let you know what to expect.
While your experience will be unique to you, here’s what you can generally expect during your Invisalign treatment with us in Okotoks.
Step 1: Free Consultation
Your journey begins with a complimentary Invisalign consultation at our clinic. Dr. Lindsay will assess your smile, discuss any oral health concerns you have, and explain how Invisalign could meet your goals.
Then comes our favourite part: showing you a digital preview of what your smile could look like at the completion of your treatment.
We’ll invite you to ask your questions about costs and timelines. These are unique to your particular needs.
Step 2: Build & Fit Your Custom Aligners
Following your consultation, if you choose to start Invisalign, we’ll use our intraoral scanner to create a detailed 3D map of your teeth. This technology allows us to create your custom aligners.
Once your aligners are ready, you’ll return to our clinic for a fitting. We’ll adjust them until they’re comfortable and provide tips for wearing and caring for them. You can expect a short adjustment period, after which wearing them is typically considered quite comfortable.
You may require attachments, also known as buttons, on your teeth to help move them into position. These tiny, tooth-coloured bumps work like handles for your aligners to gently pull on teeth, applying gentle force to move them into position.
Step 3: Daily Wear & Progress Checkups
For the best results, your aligners should be worn for 20–22 hours per day. You can remove them while eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth.
Every 6–8 weeks, you’ll meet with us to check on your progress. During these brief appointments, we’ll provide you with new aligners and verify that your treatment is progressing as planned.

At the end of a successful Invisalign journey, you can have beautifully aligned teeth that are easier to clean and healthier overall. To maintain those results, we’ll guide you on retainers and long-term care.
